- Not a Halloween party There was all the excitement of going out in the dark to an inviting looking party. The Church was throbbing, flashing and pulsing (not normal adjectives one associates with church) with bright lights, flashing beacons and some good music. We all had a really fun evening with well supervised games, dancing, songs, disgusting gunge, barmy army and delicious food. The 27 children there seemed to go home with more sweets than they could possibly have got trick or treating having had a really lively evening. This was organised and run by Jan and Adrian Black well supported by their friends and all of us lucky enough to go thank them very much.
What a welcome relief to have a sunny start to this term! Amy Pagett has joined us and we hope she will have a happy time at Krakatoa. We will be looking at the colours and shapes of leaves and seeds and various other aspects of Autumn (wind and rain included). The AGM will be on the 20th November at 8pm at the school. Afterwards we will be having wine and cheese, the chance for a chat and for you to know who's who on the Committee. Please come along and support your playgroup, have your say and some fun too.
November is the month of Remembrance especially of the dead of the two great wars. It is fitting at this present time of difficulty and uncertainty in the world to remember with gratitude those people, especially those of our parish who gave their lives in the service of our country. Not only them but also those people, who at this very moment, are risking their lives for us and our freedom. In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, They mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
